The study of astrology is an interesting one indeed, the further you go in its examination, the more you realize how powerful the cosmos really are. Many of us believe in this or at least understand this notion, even in its most primitive form. We all have wished upon a star at one point, or gazed at the Full Moon and marveled at its magnificence. I once told a young boy when he asked me what the stars really were, that they were angels looking over us. Many parents tell their children the same thing. In a way, they are, particularly if you appreciate the Greek Mythology component of astrology. Norah Guide often gives a lot of attention to the planets and the Moon, today we are going to talk about stars.
I won’t go into the mythology and history of each star, but most of the ones you know about or can name yourselves do have mythological component. The Big and Little Dipper for example are well known constellations of significance. Astrologers and historians have their own methods to use regarding the power of stars, not everyone believes they are angels or former gods, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
But even if there is a hint of you that believes there is something greater than us, the sky is the best first place to look for evidence. Here, when you look at the great cosmos and the Milky Way, you just never know what can happen if you make a wish, even if you only believe a pinch.
We all know of the first star wish, “Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight.” Then we make our wish silently, and go on our merry way. The first star wish must never be told to anyone until it has come true or manifested, otherwise you may not get your wish. Your wish, is between you and the cosmos.
You can also do this with the last star you see before you go to bed, substituting the word “first” with “last”. You must make your wish quickly and turn your eyes downward so as to ensure you don’t jinx the wish by seeing any more stars that evening.
Another variation of the first star chant is that after you make your wish, turn around three times, touch a tree, find another star, and then look back to your “first star” and this reportedly will help your wish be answered by the gods of the sky.
Another first star chant is, “I see specks, specks see me, I’ll see somebody tomorrow I don’t expect to see”. This is a good one if you are missing someone. Say their name at the end of the chant, and you may just hear from them in some way tomorrow! For lovers, or lovers waiting for that special someone, you can look at the brightest star you can find, wink three times, and wish to dream of the person you might marry that night. But you must go to bed immediately.
You can also use the power of the number 9. Count stars up to nine and make a wish with this change, “one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, night, wish be mine.” Make your wish, count the chant again, and the second time you say it finish it with, “And so it should be.”
Just some fun star power to ease you into the weekend. Find some stars this weekend, make a wish, and have a great one! You can catch this and other wish fulfillment symbols over on my Pinterest page!
